Stop sending links to yourself from your phone
Messaging or emailing yourself works everywhere, but every link takes several steps and leaves a trail in your chats. If you often move text from an Android phone to your computer on the same Wi-Fi, a clipboard sync app lets you copy on the phone and paste straight on the computer. For occasional transfers, your phone’s Share menu or a chat with yourself is still a reasonable choice.
What the habit costs
Sending a link to yourself usually means: copy it, open a chat or email, paste, send, open the same chat on the computer, copy it again, and paste. That’s fine once a day. Done many times, it adds up, and the copies pile up in your messages.

What it looks like with MyClippy
With automatic copy set up on Android, you copy a message or link in any app — WhatsApp, Chrome, notes — and press ⌘V on the Mac or Ctrl+V on the PC. In our 24 September 2026 test, text copied inside WhatsApp on a Pixel 7 reached an M1 Pro Mac’s clipboard byte-for-byte. See all test results.

When messaging yourself is still the better choice
- Your phone and computer aren’t on the same network.
- You use an iPhone or Linux, which the MyClippy pilot doesn’t support.
- You want a permanent record of the link; MyClippy keeps only recent clips, in memory.
- You are on shared or public Wi-Fi, where the MyClippy pilot shouldn’t be used.
